From Kasi streets to the stage

Bonisa "Nisa Africa" Mndaweni

Born Bonisa Mndaweni in Hlongwani Section Katlehong, South Africa.

She is raised by a widowed mother who worked very hard to ensure her children are well educated. Her mother cultivated her interests in the arts by providing art supplies and creative expressions at an early age. Nisa Africa studied drama in high school, she also acted in several theatre plays and TV productions including "Isidingo" and a leading role in "The Jack and The Bean Stalk".

She also works as an art director and make-up artist in film and television productions. She then began attending vocal classes, having studio recording sessions, experimenting with instruments and researching strictly about the sound she wanted to pursue. She wanted to tune her ear to a certain sound design and all included artists such as 'D' Angelo', 'Sade','Bob Marley ', 'Brenda Fassie" and 'Simphiwe Dana' just to name a few.

Nisa Africa composes and produces her own music and believes music comes from a spiritual world that she always connects into. She expresses her thoughts and feelings through music. She has a EP named "Ithigintjele" which is available on digital platforms. She has put together a ten piece band that includes two backing vocalists and a sound engineer; which she has named "The Juice".

Her vision is for her music to spread worldwide, to touch souls and be a tool of creativity for sound productions. Her mission is to perform all across the continents and her music to be a blueprint for the entertainment industry.
